The Heroes of the Realm Card Game is a collectible card game based on the real life adventuring parties and heroes of the Age of Heroes. It was first published in 1710 by Commodore Shatterfury. It was the decade's top-selling toy of any hero-based merchandise and had sold over 11.0 million cards realmwide. Shatterfury was forced to cease production of the cards in 1718, after the events at Sankofa all but sunk the image of heroes across the Alliance. Shatterfury took a chance and began reprinting the cards in 1731, following the heroic success of Croak and Dagger.

Each pack of cards costs roughly 10 gold and contains 5 cards.

Rarities

The following is a list of card rarities. These are represented by the color and shine of the card's border around the portrait.

  • Bronze (Common, Orange)

Very high likelihood of being drawn in a pack. Your small-time heroes who've made a name for themselves in their everyday acts of heroic service. You won't find dragon-slayers or Lich-killers here, but everyone starts somewhere. Your average Elvish Archer, strongman Barbarian, and shield-bearing Paladin.

  • Silver (Uncommon, Grey)

High likelihood of being drawn in a pack. Heroes, events, and items that have made a name for themselves. These names have fought hard to separate themselves from the long list of everyday heroes and have shown much promise in their time. The stories that inspire regular citizens to go out and make a name for themselves.

  • Gold (Rare, Yellow)

Medium likelihood of being drawn in a pack. Your everyday heroes that you know and love. Classic heroes, items, and spells that are the foundation and jumping off point for epic tales.

  • Platinum (Very Rare, Green)

Less likely to be drawn in a pack. Superstar heroes typically part of a Guild or Adventuring Party that through incredible feats of bravery and strength, have made a name for themselves. The backbone of adventuring and representative of its many paths.

  • Diamond (Ultra Rare, Purple)

Very unlikely to be drawn in a pack. The shot-callers, demon-slayers, and cult-enders. Classic heroes that are known by name alone. Mentions of them bring up stories in the minds of the people that have either seen acts of their heroism first-hand, or heard enough songs of praise.

  • Galaxy (Epic, Rose Quartz/Navy Blue)

Extremely unlikely to be drawn in a pack. The champions that are sung about in taverns and immortalized in texts. Saviors of the realm and vanquishers of evil. This is the peak all heroes hope to reach one day. To be immortalized alongside the greatest names in adventuring party history.

  • Mythic (Exotic, Black)

Less than a 1/3 chance of being drawn in a pack. Highly-coveted cards that are worth thousands to avid collectors. To be considered a Mythic Card, aside from the iconic obsidian-black background, a card must either have less than 1,000 printed quantities, have a manufacturing defect, or even be banned entirely. Anywhere from 10 to 1,000 of certain cards exist. Some can not be drawn from a pack and were hand-crafted by Shatterfury himself, or in secret by his printers.
