Gods

Gods are entities of great power that are worshipped and/or feared across many religions. Due to a greater pact to maintain balance and avoid a divine war, the Gods are forbidden from directly interfering with matters on the mortal Material Plane.

Greater Deities, Old and New Greater Gods

The term Old Greater Gods, also known as Architects, is used to refer to precursor beings that were believed to have existed before and after the Great Spark. Those who willed the Great Spark into igniting the creation of the Planes of Existence before sacrificing themselves to defeat Tiamat. The term New Greater Gods refers to gods or beings who were willed into existence during or right after the Great Spark or were once mortal creatures that ascended to godhood. All existing Gods are "New Greater Gods" but are simply referred to as "the Gods". Normally a distinction is only made when one says "to the Old Gods and the New," in very select, old prayers. In terms of power, both eras are equally powerfully and the time at which they existed is the only difference in common lore.

The Architects and their current-day domains were/are: Lucen (Knowledge), Feros (Wealth and Fortune), Therun (Fury, Life, and Conflict), Shiala (Justice and Judgement), Justinia (Blessings, War, and Balance)

Also referred to as the Dark Pact within the greater divine pantheon. Gods of Death and Darkness of varying alignments working together to keep the balance between death, memories, and souls working cohesively. This pact ensures no single aspect of darkness or death overpowers the other, risking total collapse of the wider cosmic scale and the death of all Gods. Much like the balance between Life and Death, or Light and Darkness, death has its own balance that must be maintained. Souls may sometimes find themselves on a journey through what's called the "Dark Descent", which begins with their (hopefully) swift passage through Tarturus, judgement in the Crystal Spire, then either eternal damnation in the Nine Hells or Underworld, or a peaceful, warm afterlife bathed in light.

The old natives of Yros’sidia and their descendants follow one of the two philosophical religions called "The Path of Enlightenment" and "The Way". In the kingdom of Sheng Lao, they predominantly worship a large number of spirits collectively called The Eight Million Gods. The people of Sheng Lao primarily believe in the Celestial Bureaucracy headed by the Celestial Emperor, the heads of what's known as the Celestial Empire, also referred to as the Celestial Heaven or the Empire of Heaven. The Celestial Empire is the dominant pantheon of the continent of Yros'sidia and its natives, especially the empire of Sheng Lao. Every deity who was a part of the Celestial Bureaucracy has a small realm attached to the Spirit World, their in-between plane. The whole realm was known as the Celestial Heaven, or simply Heaven or the Sky. Lying at the Center of All Heaven, the Celestial Empire was governed from the Celestial Palace, where the Celestial Emperor sits upon the Jade Throne.

The Celestial Emperor commanded the Nine Immortals, or the Nine Great Dragons. They stand beside the Jade Throne, always ready to do as the Emperor bade as agents of his divine will and command the Lesser Immortals. They embody an ideal of the Path which are nine core virtues of Artistry, Compassion, Courage, Fidelity, Honor, Karma, Love, Respect for Tradition, and Scholarship. The Lesser Immortals are a collective of Jade Ladies, Rice Spirits, Moon Women, Spirit Warriors, Ladies of Compassion, the Lords of Karma and the Sages. The entitiy known as the Mad Monkey is a demi-deity of mischief who sometimes helps, or hinders, the Celestial Bureaucracy. The Celestial Emperor had appointed each of his Immortals to oversee all the relevant matters, and humans were expected to call/prey to the appropriate Immortal. He had also organized the Celestial Court to handle trivial matters like speaking with humans. No one prayed directly to the Emperor; daring to call directly to him was seen as an act of utter disrespect, one that would be answered with thunder and lightning.
